Policy
Editorial standards
How we report, source, label and correct our work.
Attribution
Every factual claim is tied to a named source, a document or an official communication. Stories written from published source material say so and link out.
No implied eyewitness reporting
We do not write in a way that suggests our staff was on scene unless they were, and the story says so directly.
Original visuals
We use our own editorial illustrations and licensed or original photography. We do not republish third-party news photographs or social media media without permission.
Labels
Preview and Example labels mark demonstration content. Sponsored content is always labeled. Opinion, when published, is clearly separated from reporting.
Anonymous sources
Used rarely, only when information is important and otherwise unavailable, and only with an editor's approval and an explanation of why anonymity was granted.
